| HERITAGEThe Fountain The inhabitants Robionnais call it "The pump" for in the past, water was drawn in this place.
It probably dates back prior to 1597 since a stone construction representing the edge of a well can be seen on a pen-and-ink village drawing.
The present fountain built with a tower shape, ornated with three cast-iron channels probably dating from the beginning of the 19th century. As this public equipment was used daily during the two former centuries, the stones and the pump mechanism were certainly replaced several times; hence the trouble to date back its origin.
The fountain surroundings were adopted as a gathering point and as it is nicely quoted by Roger Maséra, robionnais : « It is the very heart of Robion which did live there. Between the two world wars and up to the 50’s it had become a place of meeting ; rendez-vous for the young , the grown ups and the elderly according to the hours ».
