| HERITAGEThe calades During the difficult times in the Middle Ages a market town surrounded by city walls was built on a small mound, protected by the massif of Luberon and overlooking the plain. At that time, only two doors authorised the entrance into the inner part of the village ; one is still visible : le Portalet an ogival door to protect against the attackers.
A castle was built too when the feudal regime was settled in the district. It was pulled down in 1684 and during the revolutionary period, the few parts of the wall which had resisted were destroyed as well the poorly maintained city walls. Most often, the stones were stolen in order to rebuild houses or big walls called : « Barris ».
Some streets “caladées” ancient heart were rehabilitated in 1992 for the benefit of the robionnais and the visitors. On that occasion, some places were converted in relaxing spaces ; hence you will have the opportunity to admire the panorama and read under a shaded arbour.
